Animation exercise — Bouncy Ball

Overview

Today we learned about an animation theory that every animator learns at the very beginning — the bouncy ball.

Different balls bounce at different times and heights, depending on the weight and material of the ball.

When drawing a bouncy ball animation, you can add some deformation to the object. If it is a soft, deflated ball, it may produce compression and extension.

It is important to note, however, that not all objects in real life are so soft and flat. If you go too far with the bending and compression technique, everything you draw will move and feel like it’s all rubber.
